Delivery pricing guide for GTA and Ontario shipments.
Dragonfly uses dispatch-reviewed pricing because distance, timing, vehicle type, access, waiting time and freight details can change the final cost. This page gives practical starting points and pricing factors without publishing a rigid internal rate card.
What affects delivery price?
Most quote differences come from a small number of operational factors.
Distance and corridor
Local GTA courier work, city-to-city Ontario lanes and longer direct-drive trips are priced differently.
Shipment size
Boxes, loose items, skids, pallets and overweight freight may require different vehicles or handling.
Access requirements
Tailgate, residential delivery, inside delivery, appointment windows, job-sites and wait time can affect cost.
Typical pricing structure
Use these as planning examples only. Dispatch confirms final pricing before booking.
| Service | Typical use | Pricing approach |
|---|---|---|
| GTA parcel / boxes | Small courier moves between businesses | Distance, urgency and pickup/delivery access |
| Skid / pallet freight | Commercial freight, supplier runs, warehouse moves | Vehicle fit, weight, dimensions, dock/tailgate and lane |
| Same-day / rush | Time-sensitive delivery | Base service plus urgency and vehicle availability |
| Ontario direct-drive | Toronto to Hamilton, Cambridge, London or other Ontario lanes | Dedicated route distance, timing and load requirements |
| Recurring route | Repeat commercial deliveries | Lane frequency, stop count, volume and schedule consistency |
Charges that may apply
Accessorials are common in freight and commercial delivery. They keep pricing fair when a shipment requires extra time, equipment or handling.
Tailgate service
Needed when a dock or forklift is not available.
Residential or inside delivery
May require extra time, access review or appointment coordination.
Waiting / detention
Can apply when pickup or delivery is delayed beyond normal service time.
Typical delivery price ranges and review factors.
The ranges below are planning examples only. Final pricing is confirmed after dispatch reviews the route, vehicle fit, timing, access conditions, freight size, weight, waiting time, fuel, HST and any special handling requirements.
GTA courier and small commercial moves
Local parcel, box and small business shipments often depend on pickup/delivery distance, urgency, parking, elevator access and receiver availability. Same-day or rush timing usually increases the estimate because the route may need to be prioritized or handled directly.
Pallet, skid and box-truck work
Pallet pricing depends on footprint, stackability, total weight, tailgate requirements, dock availability, residential access and whether the freight can be moved safely by one driver with standard equipment.
Ontario corridor deliveries
City-to-city lanes such as Toronto to Hamilton, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Barrie, Niagara or Ottawa are reviewed as direct-drive or scheduled corridor moves depending on timing and freight details.
Accessorials and exceptions
Tailgate service, appointment delivery, inside delivery, hand-bombing, waiting time, limited access, oversized freight and after-hours service can change the final quote. These items are reviewed before a booking is confirmed.
Why Dragonfly uses confirmed quotes instead of a rigid public rate card
A rigid rate card can be misleading for commercial freight because two shipments with the same distance can require very different handling. A boxed parcel moving dock-to-dock is not the same as a non-stackable oversized skid going to a residential address with a tailgate requirement. Dragonfly uses a practical estimate and dispatch-review process so customers can plan with confidence without being given a price that ignores real-world delivery conditions.
For the fastest review, include the pickup city, delivery city, number of pieces, pallet count, total weight, dimensions, whether the shipment is stackable, and whether pickup or delivery has a dock, forklift, elevator, stairs, appointment window or receiver restrictions.
