When pallet delivery makes sense

Pallet and skid delivery is used when goods are too large, heavy, awkward or commercial for standard parcel courier handling. It is common for boxed product, fixtures, flooring, tile, equipment, small warehouse shipments and contractor materials.

The right quote depends on whether the shipment is dock-to-dock, curbside, residential, tailgate required, appointment-based, oversized, overweight or requires manual breakdown.

Details dispatch needs

  • Pickup and delivery address, business names and contact people.
  • Number of skids or pieces, dimensions and weight.
  • Whether freight is stackable, fragile, oversized or overweight.
  • Dock, forklift, tailgate, pallet jack or curbside access.
  • Requested timing, appointment windows and proof-of-delivery needs.

Pallet planning notes

Stackable, oversized and overweight pallets need dispatch review.

A pallet is not priced only by the word “pallet.” Dispatch has to review footprint, height, weight, stackability, access and handling. A skid that takes twice the normal floor space, cannot be stacked, or needs tailgate/inside service may require a different vehicle plan than a standard pallet.

Stackable vs non-stackable

Stackable freight can sometimes be planned more efficiently. Non-stackable freight may consume full floor space above the pallet, even if the base footprint looks standard.

Oversized footprint

If one pallet is wider, longer or effectively double-sized, it may count as more than one pallet position for planning. Dispatch should review dimensions before confirming pricing or vehicle fit.

Overweight freight

Heavy pallets may require dock access, forklift handling, liftgate review, different equipment, or refusal if the shipment is beyond safe handling limits for the requested service.

Tailgate and dock access

A commercial dock, forklift, tailgate request, residential stop or job-site drop can change the handling plan and final quote.

Appointments and wait time

Receiver appointment windows, site check-in, security gates and delays can add wait/detention time. Include these details before booking.

Rate guide interpretation

Any skid/pallet guide on the site is a planning estimate, not a final rate card. Final pricing is confirmed after dispatch reviews freight size, weight, route, access and timing.

Pallet Freight Delivery Across the GTA and Ontario

Dragonfly Delivery specialises in palletized freight delivery for businesses that move commercial product on skids across the GTA and Ontario. Our tailgate-equipped 20-foot box truck is built for pallet freight — from single-skid deliveries within the GTA to multi-pallet corridor runs reaching Hamilton, Cambridge, and London. Every pallet job includes a Bill of Lading, signed Proof of Delivery, and professional invoicing.

Why Pallet Freight Requires the Right Carrier

Palletized freight is not the same as parcel delivery. A pallet of porcelain tile weighing 1,200 pounds cannot be offloaded from a standard van. A stack of bathroom vanities on a skid cannot be sorted through a parcel carrier's conveyor system. Pallet freight requires a truck with sufficient cargo space, proper load securing, and — for most non-dock delivery locations — a hydraulic tailgate to lower the freight safely from truck bed to ground level. Using the wrong carrier for pallet freight produces damaged product, failed deliveries, and re-delivery fees that eliminate any savings from the cheaper initial rate.

Our Pallet Freight Capability

Our 20-foot box truck provides approximately 1,000 cubic feet of enclosed cargo space. Standard pallets at 48 by 40 inches are handled as core freight. Oversized skids up to 60 inches wide are accommodated depending on the total load configuration. The hydraulic tailgate supports loads up to approximately 2,000 pounds and operates at all standard non-dock delivery locations. A manual pallet jack is carried on every job for moving freight within the delivery location after offloading.

Pallet Delivery to Non-Dock Locations

The majority of pallet freight delivery locations in the GTA and Ontario do not have loading docks. Renovation sites, retail storefronts, restaurants, smaller commercial units, and residential addresses all require tailgate service for heavy or palletized freight. Our tailgate capability means we can complete pallet deliveries at these locations as standard — no equipment mismatch, no failed offloads, no surprise re-delivery fees.

GTA Local Pallet Delivery

For pallet deliveries within the Greater Toronto Area, same-day service is available for bookings made before 10am. Next-day service is available for bookings made before end of business. GTA pallet delivery pricing is based on the specific route, pallet count, access conditions, and timing — confirmed at the time of dispatch review based on your actual shipment details.

Ontario Corridor Pallet Runs

For pallet freight moving on Ontario corridors — Toronto to Hamilton, Cambridge, London, or other destinations — dedicated runs are priced based on the specific route and load. Multi-pallet corridor runs are priced as dedicated full-truck jobs. Return freight on corridor runs, when available, can reduce net corridor pricing — mention at intake if you have return freight from the destination.
